This year has been up and down with the weather but it’s all coming together. Our hives that wintered over are doing well and full of nectar and bees. Below is a hive I am going to pull honey from for the fair this year:

June 11, 2011.

About 10 days ago was the black locust flow and I’m bummed that we don’t have any hives near those trees. I’d love to try some of the honey if anyone has some, hinthint. The basswood trees are going to be opening up next week up in our part of the state. I am looking forward to this because it’s one of my favorite honeys of.all.time!

I’ve also seen yellow sweet clover popping up around the metro. Get those supers ready!
